I. Details of the Event/Activity
The seminar “Getting Started with Laravel: A Beginner’s Guide” was conducted on Friday, May 9, 2025, from 4:00 PM to 5:30 PM at Gordon College, Room 519. Mr. Raymond Paul Vianzon, our team member, led it, and it aimed to provide an introduction to Laravel, a modern and powerful PHP framework.
II. Reflections on the Seminar/Activity Give Rise to
(Learnings)
Being familiar with Laravel's MVC structure and having previously utilized it, I found the seminar to be a useful refresher on the basic concepts of the framework. Having already learned the concepts of models, views, controllers, and routing, the discussion reminded me of the importance of applying Laravel's best practices and properly employing built-in features. One of the key takeaways was a deeper understanding of the real-world usage of Artisan commands, e.g., creating models, migrations, and controllers. The presenter also touched on Laravel's maintainability as well as clean code practices. projects, which is something I aim to continue improving at as I develop.
III. Reflections on Possibilities on Implementing Some
of the Seminar Input on a
Practical Level (Practical Application of Learnings)
I was inspired by the lecture to implement Blade templating for more dynamic and maintainable front-end development and to know more about Laravel's automation tools, such as Artisan. I will use more command-line tools to make my process more efficient. By employing migrations and Artisan interfaces to enhance database administration. In addition, given my previous experience with Laravel, the lecture focused on simpler ways for project setup and development, particularly when undertaking freelance projects or educational systems. Producing more consistent applications in shorter development timelines will be achievable with these observations.
IV. Positive Feedback (on the Event Organization)
The event was well-organized and well-managed. Even for visitors with varying levels of
experience, the presentation was easy to understand and simple to follow. Mr. Raymond Paul Vianzon encouraged active
learning and gave detailed explanations of topics environment. In addition to supplementing the discussion,
the visual slides were a helpful guide throughout the course of the session.
V. Suggestions for Improvements to be Made/Consider
for Future Activities
I have no suggestions. The seminar was informative and
well-executed.
