Reflection Report Seminar Title: “Mastering Microsoft Access: A Beginner’s Guide to Database Management”
I. Details of the event/activity
On
Saturday, April 26, 2025, from 3:00 PM to 5:00 PM, our team organized a free
learning session called "Mastering Microsoft Access: A Beginner’s Guide to
Database Management" in Room 521 at Gordon College. The session was hosted
by me and led by Mr. Marvin P. Gregorio, the speaker of the seminar. He is a
software engineer from SkyDev Solutions Inc. He guided us through the
fundamentals of Microsoft Access and provided valuable insights into its
application in real-world database management. The session was both informative
and engaging, particularly for those who were new to database systems.
II. Reflections on the Webinar/Activity
Give Rise to (Learnings)
Mr. Marvin P. Gregorio, our speaker, did a fantastic job of simplifying the basics in a way that felt accessible, even for beginners like myself. He not only explained how Microsoft Access operates but also highlighted its usefulness, particularly in professional environments were managing large datasets accurately and efficiently is crucial. What I appreciated most was the hands-on nature of the session. Rather than merely listening to theoretical concepts, we examined real-world examples that made it easier to understand the material.
III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)
Microsoft Access is an exceptionally valuable tool for anyone looking to efficiently organize, track, and analyze information. One key takeaway was learning how to create and manage a simple database from the ground up. Whether it's for monitoring inventory, maintaining student records, managing customer information, or handling event registrations, Access enables you to store data in a structured manner and retrieve it swiftly using queries.
IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)
The information that the speaker gives us is the things I haven’t learned yet, and I am thankful that I have learned it through his shared expertise and experience in the IT company. Regardless of being a beginner in the field, I am able to see the difference of each role in an IT industry.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for future activities
The seminar was well executed by the team who worked to make it come true from scratch to well presented. My only suggestion is that for the team, I’m hoping to see more new events done with an ample amount of time.
