I. Details of the event/activity
The title of the seminar I attended was "Project
Management 101: Introducing the PM Skills for IT." This seminar focuses on
building a career in the IT industry. It was organized by the League of Information
Technology Students from the University of the East-Caloocans, and it was held on
November 16, 2024. The master speaker for the seminar is Prof. Clementine
Reyes-Valdoz.
II. Reflections on the webinar/activity give rise to
(learnings)
The seminar provided a comprehensive introduction to
essential project management skills for IT professionals. Prof. Clementine
Reyes-Valdoz shared valuable insights on various aspects of project management,
including planning, execution, monitoring, and closing projects. Key learnings
included understanding the importance of setting clear project goals, defining
roles and responsibilities, and using project management tools and techniques.
The seminar also emphasized the significance of effective communication and
teamwork in successfully managing projects.
III. Reflections on possibilities on implementing some of
the webinar input on a practical level (practical application of learnings)
To practically apply
the learnings from the seminar, one can start by implementing project
management techniques in both academic and professional settings. For example,
using project management software to organize tasks, set deadlines, and track
progress can enhance productivity. Additionally, practicing effective
communication and collaboration with team members can lead to more successful
project outcomes. Participating in real-world projects, internships, or group
activities can also provide hands-on experience and further develop project
management skills.
IV. Positive feedback (on the event organization)
The event was well organized, with a clear agenda and
engaging content. Prof. Clementine Reyes-Valdoz delivered the seminar with
enthusiasm and expertise, making the content accessible and interesting. The
interactive Q&A session allowed us participants to ask questions and gain
deeper insights into the topics discussed. The overall atmosphere was conducive
to learning and networking, and the organizers ensured a seamless experience
for all attendees.
V. Suggestions for improvements to be made/consider for
future activities
For future activities, incorporating interactive workshops
or case studies could provide participants with practical experience in project
management. Providing access to additional resources, such as templates,
guides, or recommended reading materials, can help participants continue their
learning journey. Additionally, organizing follow-up sessions or creating a
community platform for attendees to stay connected and share their progress
would enhance the overall impact of the event.
